Pick up your Passport at any of Hyde Park’s arts and cultural organizations and enjoy fantastic jazz while earning prizes such as CDs or even the special Jazz Pass for the Jazz Festival. Be sure to get the Passport stamped at every Passport To Jazz event. The next two are coming up on March 7 and 12, just check out the calendar. And before or after each performance, take a few minutes to look around and see where you are. It is NOT going to be your typical jazz venue.
On the 7th you will be surrounded by the antiquities of Mesopotamia and Egypt at the Oriental Institute and on the 12th you will be in the heart of one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s prized Robie House. That is the magic of the Passport events – they are all in the unusual settings of the HyPa members.
Last month the Greg Spero Trio delighted the audience at the Robie House with a memorable evening of jazz. Following the event, Greg wrote HyPa an email and said that the, “love and appreciation in the room made it a spiritual evening for me and my band.” In addition, Greg was so taken by the experience that he donated a percentage of his CD sales to the Robie House!
