What is Civic Knowledge?

April 5 – 12, 2010

Educators, activists and many others will find this course both inspirational and practical as they engage in critical exchanges about the CKP educational model and the ways it has improved the dynamic between the University of Chicago and its surrounding community. The course changes every quarter, since it involves a series of workshops designed to provide and intensive exposure to particular CKP programs, especially its after-school program, Winning Words. This term, the emphasis will continue to be on staging key but unusual environmental/philosophical educational activities in disadvantaged educational settings, particularly urban elementary and middle schools, with an eye to implementing the Chicago Public Schools Environmental Action Plan.
