International House’s Global Voices Author Series presents a celebration of the release of “Let Freedom Swing: Collected Writings on Jazz, Blues, and Gospel” with Howard Reich in discussion with Nicole Mitchell.
Howard Reich has been an award-winning Chicago Tribune arts critic and writer since 1983. He is also a correspondent for DownBeat magazine. “Let Freedom Swing” represents some of the very best columns, profiles, and criticism of his career.
Nicole Mitchell has been noted as “a compelling improviser of wit, determination, positivity, and tremendous talent…on her way to becoming one of the greatest living flutists in jazz,” (Peter Margasak, Chicago Reader). She was also awarded “Jazz Flutist of the Year 2010″ by the Jazz Journalist Association and “Chicagoan of the Year 2006” by the Chicago Tribune.
