Reginald Robinson, acclaimed pianist/composer of ragtime and early jazz and blues styles, comes to the Oriental Institute to perform in conjunction with the new special exhibit Pioneers to the Past: American Archaeologists in the Middle East, 1919-1920. This exhibit tells the story of a daring World-War-I-era adventure that led to the Institute’s founding and its renowned collection of ancient art and artifacts. Robinson, a MacArthur Foundation Genius Award winner, will bring that era to life through the ragtime and early jazz repertoire that ranks him as America’s leading ragtime composer.
Following the concert, there will be a coffee reception with the artist and a drawing for a $25 gift certificate from the Suq, the Oriental Institute Museum Gift Shop.
